House of Wu is the story of an entrepreneurial dream. Founder, Wen Wu, started a career in engineering but had ambitions to start his own business. He came across a struggling bridal shop and was introduced to the bridal business. With that experience, Wen understood how to truly help the industry—create the best formalwear designs to serve bridal shops across all markets. Wu, the CEO of the San Francisco-based iBuyer, bought the 19,000-square foot home at Orum Rd., Dirt reported. Before World War II broke out, the family moved to Shanghai and then Hong Kong.

A central “floating” staircase zig-zags its way up from the foyer to the penthouse. To drum up business she wrote a letter to members of her church and asked a friend, who was a studio executive, to spread the word about Madame Wu’s Garden. Though the new restaurant vanished quickly, affection for Madame Wu did not. When she turned 100 in 2014, her old customers filled up a hotel ballroom for her birthday party. By American calculations though, she was only 99. But it mattered little, for Wu was always the star attraction as she drifted from table to table, huddled with the chefs or grabbed the phone and took takeout orders.
